Relaxing by the Rhine
NECKARAU, MANNHEIM.
Undecided whether to go to the spa again but in the end Rosie decides that it is not warm enough. So, we set off for Mannheim. Roadworks don't help us but we arrive at Neckarau at 1:30 pm. The car park is in the trees so have no internet. We walk to the banks of the Rhine to get a signal. We discover that we are only 100 yards from the start of the park run.
After some lunch, Rosie sunbathed by the river for a couple of hours.
We walk into town, causing confusion amongst the locals by asking where the Centrum is. It seems we had walked past it and we'e given directions to Mannheim. Call at Aldi and enjoy coffee in a bakery.
On the way back we call at a swimming pool which is really a lake. The bored lifeguard wants to talk. Initially, he tells us that they are snapping turtles in the lake and a 30 year old carp. Then, he tells us that there are no bird' on the lake because some fish with teeth eat the young. It's all I can do to keep a straight face as four ducks swim behind him. However, it's interesting to hear his views on immigration in Germany. He believes they have made no attempt to immigrate.
Back at the river, we walk in the evening sun then enjoy pasta for dinner.
Quite noisy as revellers leave the car park otherwise it's a quiet night.
