Next Thing You Know We're in Norway.
SANNIDAL.
On the road by 9:30 after a pleasant shower and breakfast. We take the motorway up to Hirshals and arrive by 11:00. We then join a queue to the port check-in. We peel off to the main terminal and the offices. The agent can only offer us a place on a ferry next week. Unless we're willing to go to Larvik, further east of Kristiansands. We take it even though it costs over £450. The alternative is to hang around for over a week in Denmark. We have to manoeuvre around and join the big queue but we make steady progress and are boarded by midday. The ferry sails at 12:45.
We find a comfortable seat and settle in for the 3 hour 45 minutes journey. Half way through we find that we are in the middle off the children's entertainment. A fascinating story of a shipwreck involving sharks, lobsters and walruses. Or, so it seemed with no knowledge of Danish, or as it Norwegian?
Land at 4:30, fill up with fuel and provisions. The goods are expensive, a cheap bottle of wine casts £7. Needless to say we don't buy one. A couple of wrong turns takes us along the motorway. The tunnels are tolled but we don't know how to pay. The internet tells us we have to register which I duly do with an English company. Rosie is not satisfied so we call at a garage. A helpful assistant tells us that you can no longer buy the pass at a garage but gives us the phone number to call tomorrow.
Park4night has given us a nice sounding site by a lake. A 10 mile diversion takes us into someone's private estate. It turns out that 2 Italians had crashed out by the lake and been chased off in the morning by the owner. He was not pleased, we were the third motor home to call today!
A second site proves to be much better, by a river into the sea. Several vans already in situ when we arrive. A much welcome glass of wine bought in Germany to end our stressful day.
