A Ship Museum Closed (because of too much water!).
MYSEN.
We use the showers at the harbour. £2 buys 4 minutes of hot water. It's really a long time, we share the 4 minutes and still have water to spare.
We went to be beyond Oslo by the evening. Originally, Rosie wanted to visit the Viking Museum, having done a project on them at Rawthorpe. However, the museum is closed until Wednesday because of a water leak in the basement. That should suit the ships, shouldn't it?
Use the motorway but seem to rack up a lot of tolls, every 10 miles or so another £1-2 is added. Our route takes us on a ferry between Horton and Moss. I love the way the satnav gives "Now take the ferry" as the final instruction. It saves us 50+ miles and over an hour in travel time. It is also a pleasant 30 minutes interlude from the driving.
We arrive at Mysen at 16:00. It's a very different Norway than we're used to seeing. A downmarket town with a railway station and lower supermarket prices. Not the alcohol, though.
Three young lads drive noisily through the streets in old Volvos. They seem to think that they're cool, not so especially when one stalls and refuses to restart.
The site is free and offers electricity, also free, and a short drive to drinking water and a chemical toilet.
