Cycling around the See.
LEMBRUCH, DUMMER SEE.
We're aiming for Lembruch about 80 miles away so set the satnav for the scenic route. Pass through lovely villages in the hope of spotting a swimming pool. No luck as we join the motorway. Rosie has a second look at the Aires book and finds a parking spot next to an open air pool. We arrive at 12:45 to find that it opens at 1pm, perfect. Except that it isn't because It's closed for winter. The locals tell us that the closing date depends on the weather. We can't work that one out, what happens if it suddenly turns baking next week?
Anyway, back to plan A. It's a good one as it turns out. The village of Lembruch sits on the shores of Dummer See. We take the bikes down from the van and cycle the 18k around the lake.
Two thirds of the way around Rosie announces that she needs to rest her derriere. Cue a visit to a bar for a beer, I suspect it was only an excuse.
Chicken, new potatoes and green beans washed down with a nice Riesling finishes off a great day.
