Adinkerke, Again.
ADINKERKE DE PANNE.
Up and in the supermarket for 8:30. Fresh chocolate croissants for breakfast, scrumptious. Bella has a treat this morning, we use the self-service car wash for the princely sum of 5 euro. She looks a different girl altogether.
Move back into Belgium to stay at the campsite we visited last May. Much quieter than May but the weather is better, sunshine with a fairly strong wind, echoes of Storm Helene perhaps? There is a barricade across our side of the road but a sign points to the campsite. Take a risk and follow it. Good decision, for once.
Walk through the dunes to the beach. A film production team is present. Rosie learns from a guy who looks like is should be security that is a film about a man who runs off with his daughter.
A short way along the beach, a school is having sports day. We see tug of war, sack racing, team sports and water sports. Not like that in our day!
On to the town for ice cream and the obligatory look at the shoe shops. Return back to the site via the road.
Go for a run before dinner. In May, I thought a bike ride followed the site side of the railway tracks. Followed the path but reached a dead end and had to retrace my steps. Into town via the theme park. Stopped by a man who asked for directions to the railway station, in French, and I could answer him. A small fun fair is in town which explains the diversion signs. Find a footbridge over the canal. It leads to the road to Carrefour, much too far with my level of fitness. Return the way the satnav took us in May.
Lasagne for dinner. A harvester is working in the fields next to the camp. It continues well after dark. Hopefully, it will be complete by bedtime.
