Valleys, Viaducts & Villas.

TAPIA DE CASARIEGO.

With a wave goodbye to our new Irish friend, we're on the road by 9:45. We choose the motorway option again. The route takes us over multiple viaduct, through numerous valleys and allow us to see plenty of hilltop villas. We arrive on the outskirts of Tapia by 12:30. There is a supermarket in the slip road roundabout so we shop for provisions.

The site is a real gem overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. 4 euro buys parking, water and emptying facilities.

Rosie decides it is warm enough to dip her toes into the sea. I'm happy to let her and take the photographs from a safe distance.

We stop for a beer in a local bar. The waiter brings out a true tapas, free with the drink. It's fish and potato soup with a small piece of bread each. A young girl is sat at the next table obviously on the Camino Way. It transpires that she is German with a great command of English. She's going to take a week to get to Santiago, we will be there on Friday. We tell her that we loved Bodenmais. She is astounded. Her mother comes from the area and doesn't expect anyone to know it let alone have been there.

At the water tap, I meet an Australian guy from Perth. He explains that he has swopped his house in Perth for use of a friend's motorhome. Last year, he bought one in Belgium on the basis that he could resell it back at the end of the trip. He's heading down to Malaga on a similar route to us.

There must be 20 restaurants in town. Only a couple are open and their kitchens don't start until 9pm. We end up eating (a very nice) pizza in a bakery. With the added bonus of a bottle of beer.
