Third Time Lucky.
MILLADOIRO.
An English van was parked near the beach last night. This morning he uses the facilities for free. He explained that the police had driven past both last night and this morning and ignored him. Which was bizarre because, just after he left, a policeman came to check we had valid parking tickets.
Talk to a couple from Devon, although she is originally from Liverpool. They seem to be even more naive than us, if that's possible. They've only had the van less than a month and had scraped it twice. They had learnt how to work out if the grey water was full, the dirty water came back up through the shower plug!
After a quick stop at the supermarket for provisions, we head to Guitiriz. There are only 3 spaces and each one has free electricity. Very misty, even foggy in parts. We needn't have worried we're the first there at 12:30. However, it's cold and the village is tiny with nothing to occupy us. Besides, we're parked next to a building site.
Move back and down to Lugo. Struggled to find the entrance to the Aires. Three times I missed it. And, my task wasn't helped by the fact that two schools emptied there pupils onto the roads at the same time. It is a large concrete space with only 3 other vans. Each one bears a UK plate.
We walk to the walled city and the magnificent cathedral in honour of Our Lady.
We walk around the city walls. There are some nice buildings but it is largely run down with little to attract us. Rosie suggests moving on to Santiago, or nearby.
Back along the motorway we pass Guitiriz again. Then on to a very good national road. Arrive at Milladoiro by 6:30. The facilities are clearly marked but the parking isn't. We park next to other vans in a new parking area. We check with the concierge at the Casa Cultura who explains that we can park where we are without any problem.
It's a new town with plenty of construction. The shops are new and the centre next to us has a large Mercadona with spotless toilets. What more can we ask?
