Plunged Into Darkness.
POKRZYWNICA.
The sun is struggling to break through as we set off north towards Warsaw. There is a small supermarket at the end of the road. Rosie picks up milk, bread and a pair of reading glasses. The latter costs less than £1.50.
There us some damage on the front passenger tyre. We find a tyre garage just before Warsaw. He reassures us that it is superficial and shows us how to measure the remaining depth of the tyre, there is a useful bump, who knew?. Happier, we enjoy sandwiches and coffee before striking off. Traffic is heavy as we follow the ring road around the capital. One can sense the increased urgency of the drivers, many cutting across lanes at the last minute.
Our stop is about 20 miles north of the city. We've left the hustle and bustle behind and find ourselves a mile off the main drag in the grounds of a farmhouse. There is a problem with electricity in the dedicated motorhome area so we're advised to park near the lake. Our connection flips whilst we're brewing a cup of tea. Later the whole site loses juice and the place is in darkness at 8:30. Fortunately, we've plenty of gas to enable us to cook dinner.
We walk back to the main road where we spotted a shop. There isn't a centre, just the shop and a church. The shopkeeper points to the way to a large lake. Thinking we might get a walk around, we walk down to find a small "beach" between marshes. Two young lads fishing look very guilty when Rosie approaches them to ask if they've caught anything. Much relieved, they respond negatively.
There is a field next to the lake occupied by a pony and a donkey. When we return three Jack Russells are chasing them around the field. The site owners are watching the proceedings, unconcerned. We can only speculate that it is a way of getting the horse to exercise!
