What A Place To Have Your Lunch.
MRAGOWA.
The electricity is back in the morning so it the outage had nothing to do with us. The owner knocks off 10pln for the lack of juice and only charges us 30.
We drive to the nearest big town, Pultusk, and walk to the centre to pick up some cash. It's a local market town with plenty of shops selling local produce.
Satnav freezes as we set off so I take the wrong option. However, the route takes us through a number of small villages. We're making great progress until we hit roadworks governed by temporary lights. On our turn, we get stuck behind a wagon delivering soil. It pulls off but, by this time, the opposite traffic has set off led by a large truck. He forces us into the unmade portion of road. Then, at the end of the roadworks, a large tarmac spreader has parked. We can't see if he is waiting for a light. Rosie has to get out and check. He's having his lunch! We have to leave the road again.
We are close to our final stop when a traffic sign announces that our road is closed ahead. Cue a 1p mile diversion over roads with the worst potholes we've encountered for many a day.
We're the only van on the site again. The only person on the site is a man who can't speak a word of English. We can stay but need to see the owners who will return in a couple of hours'. Pick a spot by the lake. It is still very windy.
Try to walk around the lake to pass the time. Manage about a mile then have to turn around, a bridge has collapsed. Decide to drive to the local town to look around. On the side of a couple of lakes, it is sizeable enough to have supermarkets on the outskirts as well as several streets of normal shops.
Decide to chance a beer in the square by the lake. Rosie's language skills let her down and she buys two beers instead on one. Paul is forced to drink the second to avoid her embarrassment.
