Free Electricity All Night Long.

NORDENHAM.

Hooded crows dancing on the roof of the van wake us before the alarm has chance to. Unfortunately, our local toilet is locked so we have to dash to Edeker to spend a fifty cents.

We arrive at the parkrun by 8:30. The van next to us is from Bridlington, the couple are on their way to Sweden. We can't decided whether we have to parking. A quick chat with the organiser confirms that we do and it is policed. Last week a runner was given a ticket.

It is a flat course with two laps along the estuary. At the end of the first, a young lad starts to walk. I encourage him to continue and we run the second lap together. Adam is from Bath visiting Hamburg to celebrate his wife's great aunt's 100th birthday. We meet his wife, Harriet, and daughter, Aria, at the end.

A shower followed by breakfast and we are on our way to the North Sea coast. Call for LPG and successfully fill up. But only after the previous customer left her car at the pump whilst getting coffee and a pastry. The gas costs 80 cents per litre. Later, in town, it is as low as 60 cents.

There are two possible sites. The first is on the edge of town, the second in the middle of nowhere. It is only the middle of the afternoon so we choose the former. Shop at Edeker to reward them for our stop this morning. A merchandiser persuades us to buy new low sugar capri sun fruit juice. It tastes better than the original version. Fill up with fuel at £1.10 per litre. I was going to leave it until the morning but Rosie reminds me that the price is lower in the afternoon.

We walk into the town. Some lovely property with more tired looking accommodation. There is a working harbour but not much else. There is a fair on in the market place which naturally has a nice buzz around it.

The sun comes out long enough for us to get the chairs out for 30 minutes before dinner.

The site costs 5 euro plus 1 euro for 100 litres of water and 50 cents per KwH of electricity. Except that it doesn't for the latter. I check through all the meters and find one has 5 euro left. It still has 5 euro left in the morning, result!
