Homeward Bound.
IPSWICH (VIA THE HOECK).
The house is warm throughout the night, none of the cooling we experience in the van. Awake by 8am. Breakfast is a series of croissants, pancakes and bread.
We continue the catch up until a walk around their garden is proposed. They've planted a mixture of plants, shrubs and trees in order to provide colour throughout the year. It really works.
We leave at midday to give us plenty of time. We fill up with diesel and join the motorway. Paul sets the satnav for Ipswich. We have a couple of moments where we think she might be wrong but this time she can be trusted. Until we get to the final stretch. The road layout has changed, cars and freight are separated. Use a very complicated roundabout twice, probably illegally, before settling on the route.
Arrive, check-in, clear customs and board the ferry within 15 minutes. Still have over an hour before we sail.
The woman next to us reports a member of staff to guest services for scratching his backside then serving food. Guest services promise to review CCTV.
The ship has a blackout meaning the lights go out and the ferry stops. It only takes 10 minutes and we are off again. We land at 8pm but are slow to disembark. Then we have to queue through passport control.
A quiet journey along the backroads and we arrive at Rookery Farm. It is basically a field for £7 but it suits us. The owner is an old man, his wife is snoring in the armchair alongside him.
